There are no prior preparations needed for your full body scan.
But, we recommend wearing soft, comfortable clothing with no metal
zips or fastenings. As an MRI scan uses high-strength magnets,
you'll need to remove any metal items such as watches and belts,
and you might be asked to change into a medical gown for your
safety.
MRI scans don't use any ionising radiation, just strong magnets
and radio waves. This means they are generally very safe, but you
might not be a suitable candidate for an MRI scan if you have
metal in your body, such as implanted medical devices (e.g. a
pacemaker), implants such as an aneurysm clip, or shrapnel. While
MRI has no proven risk to unborn babies, it is not recommended to
have a full body scan while you are pregnant.
While a typical MRI scan concentrates on a single body area, a
full-body MRI has the capacity to detect a wide range of potential
health issues. This comprehensive examination offers a proactive
way to safeguard your overall health and can serve as a basis for
further MRI imaging.
